Getting Creative

Today I'm playing in my scrap room.  Ever have those times when all u want to do is use paper and get that one page done.   I've been experiencing that same feeling with a particular paper pack that has been sitting in my scrap desk for over 2 weeks.   Untouched !   Yup I fiddled with many possibilities of pics and sketches for this paper and couldn't get it finished and commit to it and glue it down.

Today I finally completed it with a little help from my friends over at Creatve Scrappers.  The sketch this week is perfect and a challenge all at the same time.  Serious cutting a triangle is harder than you think.

Here is the sketch :

Ok and here is my creation :

So it's a layout of my hubby and his guitar.  Don't ask how many he has it's crazy and since our little Gman came along we have names for everything including Daddy's guitars. So here I introduce Mr. Yellow.

Paper is Pink Paisley color wash line.  I created the background with dabbing versamark in my stencil and heating black embossing powder.  This gives my paper some texture and shine. It's a technique I really do love to use seems so natural to use my stencils with embossing powders.  And really I haven't seen anyone do it so it makes it unique at the same time.

Thank you for stopping by!

Tuesday

Today is party time with Party Time Tuesdays folks.  Go check em out at partytimetuesdays.blogspot.com.

It's based on this:

And here is my take.  I used a Creative Scrappers sketch.  It's on a digital book and I can't find a way to share it (I'm still rusty with blogging).

Here is my take :

Little Gavin taking a popsicle break after a boat tour at Niagara Falls a few summers ago.  I'm still using the I ❤️ Summer line from Simple Stories here.   I can't get enough of this paper.  I heald back from using too many embellies for two reasons one the background paper is busy and two I ran out of the SS embellies that go with the paper 😞.

Thanks for stopping by!

Getting Scrappy

I've decided that this year will be my year for challenges.  I will be playing along with a few blogs.

This one is from the Creative Scrappers blog.  This is based on the following sketch :

As you can tell I take my inspiration from the lovely Pinterest.  Love it! I can spend hours on there I'm not gonna lie. Here is my layout.  It's a picture if my Dman who is not so young anymore.

I'm using the best paper ever! Simple stories I ❤️ Summer.  Love this line.  And I'm so happy I found some pics of my D when he was a baby.

Hope u like it !

Scrapbooking and Music

Hi there,

This is my most recent layout I have worked on. My inspiration comes from a sketch I found on Pinterest.  I went to the blog and found a really awseome challenge where a song is posted with all the lyrics and a sketch for a layout.  I immediately wanted to scrap and play along.  So here is the sketch:

And the song is Nothing Else Matters by Matellica.

And here is my layout:

Gman got a mini Fender strat from his Daddyo and couldn't have been happier with his gift.  And I know that this has been Daddyo's dream since he knew we were having a little boy.  So my title ended up saying "couldn't be much more from the heart" which is a line from one of the verses in the song.  I know that this is going to be a musical and artful house for many years to come and this is just the beginning for Gman.

All paper and embellies is BoBunny and I used some acrylic paint to edge up the sides and create that extra layer and to paint the chipboard letters from kaiser craft.   Thank you all for stopping by !

Cards

Hi all.  Been a while for sure I'm trying to post as much as I can.   But life gets in the way.

It's been a little over a week so it's time : it's been only a week and my heat still aches.  My Dad passed away on August 7th and it's a tough road to travel but I've learned a lot though this.     And that's all I try to do when I face a difficult situation. I will always truly to learn from it.  Here is what I learned. :
1 -life is short!    That's it right.  Life is too short to hold stuff against others.  I recently reunited with my high school beat friend an a brother who I haven't spoken to in 15 years.   Yes 15 crazy eh ! There obviously are reasons for this but right now at this time this does not matter !   I have two beautiful nieces  and will try to be the best aunt ever !   Starting with a scrappy day booked with the eldest next week !  I love having nieces ! Yah me!

2- my high school friend.  I learned how to accept an apology.  An of coarse give one.  If you know me u will know that this is one thing I cannot do easily.  Accepting that I was wrong is something that I will have to work on!  And going forward I will try.  Looking forward to many more years with this girl for sure!

At my Dads funeral I heard many comments on how my dad was never judgmental and always kind to everyone. This I knew as my Dad was extremely kind and caring towards me but it was nice to hear from others too.   That said:

3- I am pledging to my Dad wherever he is to be as open as I can and learn from his example.   Just sad that he personally couldn't see me doing this and that he couldn't personally see me realize that all year years he was right.   But hopefully he's with us in spirit !

My message is do not wait! Life is too short as my BFF says and these are words I now live by!

Onto some crafty stuff.    It was my friends sons 16th bday yesterday and I made this:

It's the simple stories I (heart) summer line :). Everyone loved it! I hope u do as well.

And another just for fun:

I'm lovin the sunglasses.   Made by me with my silhouette :).

Well night all!
